Overview

Portland artist Joe Thurston approached the Andrusko Group with a beautiful gem of a project for the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital – Discovery Garden. The task consisted of hundreds of paw & foot prints engraved into thick limestone paving stones that are arranged to be meandering throughout the healing garden property for the children to follow.

Description

Working with Site Specific, a Portland-based art team led by Joe Thurston, this project involved the realization of an artist’s vision for the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Discovery Garden exterior stone pavements: literally hundreds of footprints of creatures great and small meandering throughout the garden space for children to follow and pace in the safety of the Hospital grounds that are sandblast engraved into stone.

The project was performed in Portland at the Andrusko Group studio, packaged up, and shipped to the site in San Francisco for installation by the GC at the site.
